July 4th in ATX

Jun 06/11/19

When you think about celebrating Independence Day in ATX, what comes to mind? Neighborhood parades? Fireworks? Hot dogs? Willie Nelson? Being sweaty? How about ALL of those things! Here’s a list of our favorite activities around town:

H-E-B Austin Symphony July 4th Concert & Fireworks

8:30 pm

Auditorium Shores at Town Lake, 900 W. Riverside Drive, Austin, TX, 78704

Yes, it’s crowded, but what would you expect from the largest Independence Day celebration in Austin? Come early to grab your spot on the lawn, and bring a picnic and a cooler. When the fireworks start at dusk, they reflect in both the waters of Town Lake and the glass of the downtown skyline. As you’re serenaded by the Austin Symphony playing patriotic classics, we promise it will all be worth it.

2019 July 4th Fireworks Paddle

7:45 pm

Rowing Dock, 2418 Stratford Dr., Austin, TX 78746

There’s no better place to watch the fireworks over Town Lake than from your own kayak, canoe, or Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP). There are a limited number of boats available, so reserve your craft ahead of time.

Bikes, Fireworks and the Soul Supporters

12pm

ABGB, 1305 W. Oltorf St., Austin TX 78704

Spend your holiday afternoon playing cornhole, eating pizza, and drinking beer with the awesome folks at the ABGB. There will be a watermelon eating contest at 4 pm and topped off by a vintage R&B, blues, and soul dance party from The Soul Supporters at 5 pm. Around 7:30, a big group will ride bikes to watch the fireworks at Auditorium Shores.

Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic 2019

11:30am

Austin 360 Amphitheater, 9201 Circuit of The Americas Blvd., Austin, TX 78617

This is the 46th year for this classic Austin event, this year featuring music all day long on two stages. This year artists include Willie Nelson & Family, Luke Combs, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Alison Krauss, Jamey Johnson, Steve Earle & The Dukes, Hayes Carll, Colter Wall, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Gene Watson, Billy Joe Shaver, Johnny Bush, Folk Uke, Raelyn Nelson Band and The Casey Kristofferson Band, and the event ends with a patriotic fireworks display.

July 4th Frontier Days Celebration

9 am

Old Settler’s Park, 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd, Round Rock, TX, 78665

There’s a parade. A hot pepper eating contest. A shoot-out stunt man spectacular. Swifty Swine pig races. And of course, a grand finale of night time fireworks accompanied by the Austin Symphonic Band. This all day event kicks off at 9 am with the Round Rock Sertoma July 4th Parade on Mays Street and continues with a full day (and evening) of activities at Old Settler’s Park.

Wimberley Independence Day Parade

10 am

Green Acres Road and FM 2325, Wimberley, TX, 78676

Small towns are really the best places to celebrate the 4th of July. With lots of flags and people in Minutemen costumes, Wimberley’s parade doesn’t disappoint. Check the website for the parade route and get to your spot early—the sheriff will start closing roads at 9am.
