Post-Parkapalooza Wrap Up

Our fourth annual Parkapalooza hit Easton Park this past Saturday, and in terms of music, activities, and turnout, it was the biggest—and certainly the most fun. Yes, it was hot out, but luckily the model homes and the Union were open to provide a cool oasis from the summer sun and provided a chance to jam out with DJ Cass&ra.

When the party started at 5, we welcomed more than 1,100 residents and guests to Union Park. There was almost too much fun stuff to mention—icy drinks from Sweet Leaf Tea Co., Chameleon Cold-Brew, Richard’s Rainwater and Jugo Juice kept us cool as Blue Water Highway took the stage with their amazing harmonies. Others enjoyed a tasty adult beverage from Sourced Craft Cocktails, and we’re excited to say that Kids in a New Groove received a nice donation from a percentage of the proceeds, so kudos to all of you who got their drink on!

Current residents got their limited-edition red bench pin, while folks who had never been to Easton Park could hop on the Easton Trolley to get a tour of the neighborhood hosted by our lifestyle director Collette (can we talk about how cute she was in her vintage trolley attendant outfit?!). The dogs of Easton were out in style, and they enjoyed chasing balls and swimming in the pup pools of Easton Bark.

Smaller Eastonites jammed out to the tunes of Mr. Will—they loved the tiny chairs and bubble wands at the KidaPalooza stage. Kids and adults alike enjoyed the hula hoopers from Austin Oddities, face painters and balloon artists from Kiwi’s Party and the work of Gonzo Viz, who live-painted the event. Savvy guests got in a soft-serve from Conner’s Creamery or a paleta from Cold Ones Pops to cool off BEFORE hitting the food trucks from East Side King, Burro Cheese Kitchen and Ranch Hand, followed up with some Fancy Fluff cotton candy. At 7 pm, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears took the main stage, playing a mix of their hits and classic favorites, and as the temperatures cooled off, the crowd really started dancing. Hliana Castro visited all the model homes and was the winner of our Grand Prize Package—a two night staycation at The W in downtown Austin, plus a $250 spa credit and $500 for food!

When the event was over at 8 pm, none of us wanted to leave. If we didn’t have the Music in the Park series coming up at the Union on August 23 with Genuine Leather and Ruby Jane & the Reckless, we’d definitely have post-party depression that Parkapalooza is over.

Big thanks to all of our event partners, especially J.Standard, whose master coordination skills kept everything on track and The Honor Roll for making it all look awesome. So much love to our event sponsors who made the whole day possible too: DNT Construction, TBG Partners, Norris Design, CBD, Bluebonnet Electric, LandCare, AT&T, Marathon Fitness, Kendra Scott, Associa Hill Country, Cruzin’ Aquatics, Chameleon Cold-Brew, Jugo Juice, Richard’s Rainwater and Sweet Leaf Tea Co. Plus a special shout-out to the Travis County Constables Pct. 4 who came and let all our littles climb through their cars, bringing much joy!  Who else can’t wait for Parkapalooza 2020?!
