High-Five for Parkapalooza #5
With so many annual events canceling all around us, we were thrilled to be able to come together virtually and keep the Parkapalooza tradition alive. Thank you so much to all of you who joined us for the 5th Annual Parkapalooza experience last Saturday, August 1, 2020. While nothing beats an in-person event and the power of gathering together as a community, this online adventure was still a great way to hear some live music, dance around our living rooms, and remember why we’re proud to call Easton Park home.
First, We Had Some Food & Drinks
The event kicked off with food deliveries from some of our favorite local food trucks—Ranch Hand brought the healthy, locally sourced bowls and sammies, and The Cupcake Bar spoiled us with their Summer Cupcake assortment (the Pineapple Coconut was the favorite at our house). Sourced Craft Cocktails made a special Watermelon Splash cocktail kit just for us, with fresh squeezed watermelon lime juice, Topo Chico, and Absolut. And how cute was it when Sourced founder Tim Angellico demo’ed how to mix the perfect cocktail during the broadcast?!
Then, We Had Some Awesome Music
After the provisions were in place, the real party kicked off at 5:30 with hype from Easton’s own DJ Jason Stella (aka Mario Portillo). Thanks so much to Mario for keeping the party going and providing fun color commentary between the sets. He also created our new favorite phrase in honor of our sponsor Ranch Rider cocktails — “Ranch Ridin’ and Vibin’!”
The Parka music started around 5:30, with songs from Austin troubadour Mr. Will. While Mr. Will is normally billed as a kid’s artist, I have to say our whole family loved his upbeat acoustic tunes and the beautiful fiddle accompaniment from Noah Jeffries. Texas singer-songwriter Jonathan Terrell was up next, serenaded by the sweet and stellar pedal steel of Simon Page. It was the perfect break before blues rockers and Austin natives The Peterson Brothers Band closed out the night with an exuberant set that combined jazz, funk, and masterful guitar playing supported by the rhythms of drummer Michael Gonzales.

If you weren’t able to make it Saturday night, it’s not too late to watch the show online.
You can also still order commemorative Parka and classic Easton Park gear from the online store. These are printed once ordered and then shipped, so give it about 7-10 business days to get to your door.
Many thanks to everyone who watched and all those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help put the event together! We couldn’t do it without you. Hopefully next year, we’ll all get to be together in person again!
