Meet the McDuffies
As Eric and T’Neria McDuffie approached the end of the lease on their East Austin home, these newlyweds realized they would rather be putting rent money toward building equity in their future together. We sat down with Eric and T’Neria to find out how they discovered Easton Park, what they love about their new home in Pilot Park, and their favorite places around the neighborhood.
Friends tell friends about Easton Park
Eric and T’Neria first came to Easton Park to visit friends who had moved to the neighborhood, and they were impressed with the community and the amenities. “Our friends have one of the homes with a casita, and we loved it,” T’Neria said. “With the price of rent going up, we wanted to invest our money into something long lasting like a house, and our initial thought was Easton Park.”
“We liked the neighborhood,” Eric adds, “And because we had lived in apartments before, we were used to having a gym, pool, and trails.”

Two home offices and lots of light
Both Eric and T’Neria work in tech — she’s a sales engineer for a cloud computing company, and he works in business development for an industrial e-commerce company. Both of them work from home, so two home offices were a must for their new home. “We needed two dedicated home work spaces,” T’Neria says. “Also, we have a good number of friends and family — we love to eat and entertain, so we needed space for that. And we needed a yard for Quavo.” (editor’s note: Quavo is the McDuffie’s darling 8-year-old chihuahua!)

Home sweet home
In September of 20204, the McDuffies looked at quite a few homes in Easton Park, but ultimately went with a move-in ready home in the Beal floor plan by Brookfield Residential. “We loved the amount of natural light,” T’Neria said. “It has tall ceilings and lots of windows. Another big thing was that the laundry room and the Primary bedroom are on the same floor. It just has a nice sized Primary bedroom and bathroom. And the home we got has a dedicated office space in the living room as opposed to cabinets.”

Living the Easton lifestyle
Since they moved into the neighborhood in the middle of December, the McDuffies have been getting to know their new community. “We just did a cocktail hour meet-and-greet on Friday,” T’neria said. “We have a good connection with our neighbors! There’s a group text. And Quavo loves the dog park!”
“And we did the community yard sale,” Eric adds. “Our friends will bring their kids over to Skyline Park, and I’ve played ultimate frisbee out there.”
Exploring around Easton
Eric and T’Neria are also finding lots of good spots around Easton Park to meet up with friends. “I love Radio coffee shop,” Eric said. “There’s a good food truck there, Veracruz tacos. That’s a good spot to meet in the morning, and Meanwhile Brewing is good in the afternoon or evening.”
They love Easton Park
Today, the McDuffies love life in Easton Park. “It’s really community driven — everyone is well connected,” T’Neria said. “We love the Facebook group and buy nothing groups, where you can swap things in the neighborhood. It feels like you’re in a little city within the big city.”
“Easton Park feels very homey,” Eric added.
